What is the Lamont Bros. Design & Construction Giveback Program?

The Lamont Bros. mission is to change people's lives for the better. We do this every day with the home remodeling projects we work on throughout the Portland metro area.

Our Giveback program takes our mission a step further by giving us a way to change even more people's lives— by giving them remodeling services they might otherwise not have access to.

This program started organically when the company was brand new. A team member would mention work they were doing on a neighbor or relative's house and before we knew it, our whole crew was out there lending a hand (we can't help ourselves!)

In 2024, we decided to make it an official Lamont Bros. program.

Now, each year, we look for a homeowner facing a real, practical challenge—something that impacts their ability to live comfortably, safely, or independently in their home—and we step in to help.

Giveback Program Details

Each Giveback project is a fully realized remodeling project, delivered with the same care, craftsmanship, and professionalism as any Lamont Bros. Design & Construction job.

Every project includes:

  • Our full suite of design and construction services as needed
  • Construction by our in-house team and trusted trade partners
  • Donated materials and labor from vendor and trade partners
  • Ongoing support after project completion

 

What We Look For in a Project

Because we complete these projects using donated time and resources, we focus on work where we can make the most meaningful impact. 

The Giveback program is focused on solving real problems in people's homes. 

We prioritize projects that:

  • Address practical, everyday challenges
  • Improve safety, accessibility, or livability
  • Align with our expertise in residential remodeling

Accessible Bathroom Remodel

When we met Sherry, her home’s only bathroom was no longer functioning properly, and it had become increasingly difficult for her to use safely.

The challenges:

  • Failing plumbing fixtures
  • A difficult-to-navigate layout
  • Mobility limitations that made everyday use unsafe

What we changed:

  • Replaced all failing fixtures
  • Installed a curbless shower for safe, barrier-free access
  • Added grab bars and mobility supports
  • Reconfigured the layout for easier movement
  • Installed a pocket door to eliminate obstructions
  • Brought in natural light with a sun tunnel skylight
  • Upgraded the space with high-quality finishes and heated flooring

Giveback 2024

Kitchen Remodel Completion

When we met Bob and Betsy, their kitchen remodel had been left unfinished for over a year following a major life event, leaving them without a functional space to cook or gather.

The challenges:

  • Incomplete kitchen with exposed electrical and unfinished surfaces
  • Disrupted layout that limited functionality and flow
  • Damaged and uneven flooring from prior demolition

What we changed:

  • Completed full kitchen build-out with new cabinetry and layout
  • Installed a large quartz island
  • Added new countertops, tile backsplash, and upper/lower cabinets
  • Leveled subfloor and installed new flooring tied seamlessly into existing areas
  • Installed new gas range and custom vent hood
  • Improved overall layout for better flow, usability, and everyday function
