A High-End Portland Home Restoration
This Portland home insurance restoration included the rebuilding of more than half of an expansive, high-end 3300 sqft mid-century ranch style home after a severe winter ice storm caused pipes to freeze and burst, sending flooding through the kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms, entryway, den, dining room, and a significant portion of the basement. The homeowners had already endured weeks of mitigation and a frustrating insurance process that left them severely undercompensated when Lamont Bros. stepped in. Rather than simply rebuilding, our team worked directly alongside the insurance company — reviewing documentation, disputing inadequate estimates, and advocating for a scope of work that truly reflected the damage sustained.

Project Goals
- Restore to Pre-Loss Condition: Return the home to its original state following extensive water damage, honoring the homeowners' design intent rather than settling for a generic repair standard.
- Preserve a One-of-a-Kind Kitchen: Protect and restore the custom farmhouse and chicken-themed cabinetry, including a hand-painted chicken tile mural, penned paint technique, and double-layered chicken wire inlays, as an integrated artistic unit rather than a piecemeal fix.
- Integrate New Materials Seamlessly: Where irreparable damage required new components, blend new materials with surviving originals so the repair is visually and structurally indistinguishable from the original custom work.
- Navigate a Complex Insurance Scope: Advocate for full and appropriate funding by documenting the true custom nature of the home's finishes, securing an independent Itel field survey, and negotiating with the carrier through multiple rounds until costs were fully covered.
- Coordinate a Multi-Phase, Multi-Crew Project: Manage complex logistics including two demobilizations, a secondary crew for contents access, and careful contractor sequencing across a large, water-damaged residence while the home remained unlivable.
Unique Features
- Restored Custom Farmhouse Cabinetry with Chicken Mural: The signature kitchen features a one-of-a-kind cabinet set with a hand-painted chicken tile mural, penned paint technique, and double-layered chicken wire inlays — preserved and professionally restored as an integrated artistic unit with matched finishes throughout.
- Professional Chef's Kitchen: A fully equipped culinary kitchen built around the homeowners' existing appliance suite, complete with a gas rangetop, double oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator — restored to full preloss function and condition.
- Warm Quartz Countertops with Brass Hardware: Polished quartz countertops in a soft, veined stone tone paired with honey bronze cabinet pulls and satin brass shelf brackets, creating a warm and cohesive material palette throughout the kitchen.
- New Breakfast Nook with Custom Archway: A client-directed addition with rich wood-toned cabinetry in deep roast and ironwood finishes, defined by a custom archway transition and layered brass and aged gold lighting.
- Curated Color and Pattern Throughout: Deep cabernet wall tones in the dining and entry spaces, leaf green botanical wallpaper in the office, and warm ivory carpet on the stairs and upper level — carrying a rich, intentional design language from top to bottom.
- Rebuilt Staircase and Restored Lower Level: Fully rebuilt water-damaged stairs restored access to the billiards room and home theater below, finished with crisp black tile in the laundry and soft ivory carpet continuing through the office and stair areas.
